Cut Off Your Hands

Oh Girl

Label: 679 Recordings Release Date: 18/02/2008

32955
TinPanAl by Alex Denney February 18th, 2008

Cut Off Your Hands are actually a lot more genteel than the moniker would suggest. You picture the kind of guys that would heed their own advice with rusty breadknives before setting about their axes with spurting, bloodied stumps. The reality, sadly, is less cut off your hands and more trim off your nails.

Lacking both the joyous twindie spunk of Los Campesinos! and the surly charm of The Cribs, ‘Oh Girl’ is the sound of indie punk given well-heeled harmonies and a big shiny face. Pleasant-sounding, but a little too polite for its own good. Check the video below, the singer even holds his mic like he’s having awkward sex with it.
