Operator Please

Get What You Want

Label: Brille Records Release Date: 18/02/2008

32950
Mike_Diver by Mike Diver February 18th, 2008

She’s right, y’know, you really don’t, and if the perky but whiny ‘Get What You Want’ is owt to go by, sprightly Aussies Operator Please are gonna be waiting some time before cracking the British market.

What sets its sights on catchiness falls far shorter than its makers anticipated, snuggling up to the irritable as vocalist Amandah bleats on about peers who look so fucking cool, and attacks those who’d criticise her band for being different in some respect, whatever. Or something: to these ears it’s just some bouncy brat shouting over the top of excitable pop-rock that’s all bluster and but so very boring, all its energy utterly wasted.

I don’t care that they’re kids, age isn’t an issue. What is: good pop music. And Operator Please ain’t making any just yet.
