Slipknot

Heretic Song

Label: Roadrunner Records

tbezer by Terry Bezer June 1st, 2001

For every single Slipknot hater (And believe me I write with most of 'em) this one is well and truly for you. The heaviest rip-your-balls-off-and-ram-'em-down-your-throat noise you will hear this year, it really is that simple. Slipknot have come back and boy, does this make the first record sound like a Geri Haliwell cover or what!?

Unless you've been living in a cave off of the south coast of Outer Mongolia you will know Slipknot are about to unleash there second major label album, 'Iowa' and if this is any indication of where we are heading then holy shit are we in for a ride!!! From the five-second warning at the beginning of the track to the opening thirty seconds of pure 100% metal riffage this is madness at it's highest level. The intensity is at an all-time high amongst the Slipknot camp. This is Slpknot raging out at everyone who ever called 'em a boy-band and shitting down their throat, the verse is so fast it's hard to distinguish Corey's lyrics (Apart from when he declares himself an industry killer), but with its 'If you're 555, then I'm 666' chorus this is one to be screamed 'til your throat falls on the floor. It's like when you heard 'Surfacing' for the first time all over again (but if you times the guitars by ten!).

Well then, it's time for us to all wet our pants in excitment again and the wait 'til August 6th is gonna be unbareable. This is both 5 out of 5 and 666. Bring it on!
