Gledhill have the same producer as Keane, a single on Fierce Panda, stadium filling pop ambition, plonking pianos and synth strings. They even borrow the odd chord from the cosy kings of daytime radio on their debut single ‘Resurrect Me’. But despite the weight of circumstantial evidence they can be acquitted of shameless impersonation.

Maybe it’s the nasal, slightly northern burr to singer David Gledhill’s voice, but there’s more of a hint of early **Embrace to it than the politely twittering falsettos and wide eyed gasps of other contemporary purveyors of the indie power ballad. It’s all a bit tougher and crunchier.

But despite this, ‘Resurrect Me’ just falls short of being the devastating, intense blast of pop it should be. Which would be a problem were it not for the second b-side ‘While You Sleep’. It’s ferociously melodic, genuinely individual and everything else the a-side should be.
