The Explosion

Here I Am

Label: Virgin Release Date: 07/03/2005

7834
agibbons by Anthony Gibbons March 10th, 2005

Judging by the strident tone and pleading vocals of 'Here I Am' it's clear 'US underground rock band' The Explosion are angry, young men. Quite what irks them one isn't sure, after all they've just signed a mega bucks record deal, Zane Lowe likes them, and they can sleep sound at night knowing their own record label, Tarantula, gave a helping hand to The Distillers. Perhaps it could be the thought of touring with Good Charlotte, and let's face it, that would be upsetting enough.

No, what The Explosion are really worked about is greed, corruption and lies. They're also lost: 'Here I am, here I am / I'm back at the crossroads again' they trill, something which clearly isn't helping them reach their destination: 'Let me stand, let me stand / On top of the mountain again'.

Here's my advice fellas: take a deep breath, borrow a map then fuck off and don't come back because if one has to hear this wretched, teen-friendly 'rock' once more the only thing that will be exploding around here is the office stereo when I take a fucking axe to it.

One more thing: it's not a crossroads - it's a junction. Think on.
