Iain Archer

Summer Jets

Label: Bright Star Recordings Release Date: 18/10/2004

6919
rubbafish by Colin Weston October 18th, 2004

Think what you wish of Snow Patrol, but whether you love them or hate them after you hear this single you will forever be indebted to singer Gary Lightbody for saving this guy from packing up his guitar for good.

Following on from his acclaimed 'Flood The Tanks' album, Mr Archer releases a slice of pure brilliance upon the masses in the form of 'Summer Jets'. With the twinkling guitar chug, it has a slight whiff of the Smashing Pumpkins' classic hit '1979' about it; no bad thing as Iain Archer has a much more easily accesible vocal styling than that of Billy Corgan.

This is simply one of the indie tracks of the autumn from yet another immensley talented singer/songwriter. After something this beautiful we may even forgive him for supporting David Gray in the past... maybe.
